Poems of mystery and humor – as seen through the eyes of celebrated poet Jericho Brown of USD, and two gifted young students: Nathaniel Pick of Spreckels Elementary and Justine Macasadia of Morse High.

“Standing on Front of Crowds”
Leyna Arroyo of Farb Middle discusses how she created an award-winning poem about loneliness. The conversation spins in a series of intriguing directions – starting with a recitation of other great poems of loneliness and despair.

4 “A Paradoxical Sweetness”
Rae Armantrout of UCSD and two talented students: Joanna Robles of Morse High and Saith Bravo Ruiz of Lincoln Acres explore how poetry shapes our vision of the world.
5 “Lover Weather"
Kayla Krut of The Bishop’s School has crafted a poem full of intangible and tantric music, drowned goddesses and silent couches. Kayla discusses other great love poems, and how she created her own with Border Voices director Jack Webb.

Border Voices
An ITV series produced in conjunction with the Border Voices Poetry Project, an annual event present by San Diego State University and the San Diego Union Tribune.
